1/1/2008 Sorry for the delay in getting these reports out. We are having some problems with our site and are trying to get them resolved. As of now, I have to email these reports to my internet guru who posts them for me. I hope to be able to do it on my own SOON!

The ice has not changed much in the last 10 days. We maybe gained an inch. We spent 3 days with 4 guys packing the snow with snowmobiles trying to get the cold down to the ice because we had 14 inches of snow and the cold was not penetrating. That was 2 weeks ago and it has helped some. We have 1-2 inches more ice where we packed but that is still only 10 inches or so. We have plowed the main road and finished most of Lake St yesterday. With the snow gone from the road, it should freeze down better with the 2 days of cold we are supposed to have.

We will try to work on Walleye Dr. on Wed and Thurs. It will have to sit for a couple of days to freeze down. There is a tremendous amount of water and slush where Walleye Dr goes. We may not even be able to complete it without the water sitting overnight to freeze some. However, the forecast is for highs in the upper 30's from Thurs on, so it may not freeze and in fact may get worse if everything start melting. I would love to tell you all that we will begin pulling houses on x day at x time, but we are not that close. When we can start pulling houses, we will probably not allow driving for some time because the ice is not as thick where we have not packed the snow and plowed it. Also, wherever we plowed snowbanks, the ice has cracked under it and flooded it and the ice has sunk creating spots where you could drop an axle in.

We have 3 rental houses out and may get a few more out before the weekend. We are shuttling the people out and back with our vehicle. Fishing has been spotty. One day people will do well and the next day it will be very slow. Even on normal days, some people will do well and some will not even get a bite. When the fishing is slow, people are still seeing the fish with cameras and vexilars, but they just do not want to bite. They have a lot of forage again this year. We did have a couple out yesterday who caught 3 keepers and threw back a 27 incher from one of our rentals so that is not too bad.

I will try to update again before the weekend, but as of now, it does not look good for this weekend for pulling or driving. We probably will still be using atvs and snowmobiles. Hopefully the warm front will not hurt us too much, but I am sure that it will not help the slush and water on the ice. THINK COLD!!!!!

Dean
